Homecoming Fun: School Spirit

Last week was a big week around our town -  it was Homecoming Week.  As a part of homecoming week, the athletes in football, volleyball, and cross country, do a Big Brother, Little Sister Exchange.  The volleyball players pick one of the football player's names out to give some school spirit to for the week.  Although we homeschool, my kids have played on the high school teams at the public school, so this has been a fun week for them for the past few years!  The school assigns my kids a locker to use for the week so that it can be used for a drop off place.    As a homeschool, I have to say this has been a really great experience for my kids to not only bond with their teammates, but also feel like they are a part of the community.  My kids go to all the after school event during homecoming, including bonfires, cookouts, and even ride in the parade with their graduating class.   The week begins with decorating each others l...

Spring Cards

We have been busy making more cards.  Our last set we sold at the library to raise funds for my daughter's 4-H trip to Japan.  It's starting to feel like everything we are doing is fundraising for her trip, but what an opportunity.  Most of the cards have a watercolor technique.  I've been meaning to try this on my own (I go to a card class where we do it often), but I've never gotten around to it.  I think they turned out great! The final cards with the moose, is done with masking tape.  I really love how they turned out.   What do you think? Do you make your own cards?

Valentine's Cards

We are in full swing of fundraising for my daughter's exchange trip to Japan this summer.  Our local library has offered to allow my daughter to put a small basket of things to sell at the desk of the library.  We've been wracking our brains trying to figure out what to sell and how to make it small, since the high school is already selling candy bars there, so we can't do any food items.  We finally decided to put a small basket of homemade cards for sale for $2 each. We spent Saturday making cards together (thanks to Stampin' Up consultant for sharing some of her stamps and her Big Shot!) and here are the results.  Sorry the last ones are sideways.  I can't figure out why they won't rotate.  I've never had a problem, but my internet is going really slow right now, so I think that's the problem.  Sorry!  Hope you enjoy!  If you live in the area of Grangeville, ID, stop in the library to buy s...

Homemade Christmas Cards

Getting ready for the craft show has kept me pretty busy, but I still wanted to make my Christmas cards.  I think that it's a nice touch to make my cards each year.  I know, most people are going to e-cards, or not even doing them.  I have revamped who received cards though.  Those that send a physical card receive them.  Simple. I used to send them out to everyone I knew, but decided it wasn't worth the cost.   Here's one of the cards that I made.  They vary, because I used double sided paper and the pack had several different patterns. I did the cards in steps, so here's the piles of partial pieces waiting to be assembled in my living room.  I even got Mr. Right involved in the process!  I had the pieces that I sliced off the papers to make the back ground fit.  I made a mistake on one of the cards, and to cover up the smeared stamp, I used one of these strips to cover it up and try again.  Then I realized that I like...

MOPS Thank You Gifts

I'm sorry I haven't posted lately.  We have been in a crisis trying to find housing for a large family and having no success.  Well, I have gotten some crafting done, because things had to get done, so I thought I would share. Sadly, our MOPS group has ended for the year, but it's a happy ending.  We had a ladies dinner together at a local restaurant and treated our MOPPETS volunteers for dinner.  I wanted to give each of my leaders and volunteers a special thank in addition, so I did some crafting.  One of our last craft projects was making coasters from tiles, so we made extra sets for the ladies that helped us in MOPPETS.  I'll have to share that with you soon, but here's the card I made with some new stamps I got.  We had two teens that helped with MOPPETS, so I bought a large bag of Reeses pieces and attached this tag to it.  For my leaders that helped this year, I gave a huge bar of Hershey's and let them know that if I could mea...

He's Off!

I finally got my oldest baby off to Japan!  It seems impossible that he is old enough or rather, that I am old enough to have a child that is travelling the world! Whew!  It sure was chaotic getting him off.  We made all kinds of gifts to send with him, including these  Bottle Cap Magnets .  I haven't heard yet if his hosts have enjoyed them, but really I'm just thankful he's there safe and sound and having a great time! While he was still here, I was sending off cards to him in the mail, so they would arrive the first week.  I didn't want him to miss his Mommy, you know! lol.  (I know, it was really for my benefit, not his, but hey, I'm just doing my best here!)  To sneak off his card, I made cards for his host families to thank them for opening their homes to my son.  Here's a picture of the two cards for the families.  My son's was similar, but I was afraid he would see the picture before he left.  (He was on to me anyway...

Make Your Own Business Cards

We are frantically getting our son ready to go on an international exchange trip this summer and one of the things that he is supposed to bring with him are business cards.  I was going to buy the computer business cards to go through our printer, when I got to thinking that I should just make him one on my  Storybook Creator 4.0  and print it up as a 4x6 photo. I opened a new project up on the "Local Printer" option in the printer and chose to make a "4x6 portrait" card. I used the  Basketball Digital Additions  to make the basketball background and the basketball in the background.  (The star over his face is also from that addition.) For the State of Idaho and the state bird and flower, I used the North American Road Trip Digital Kit, which was only available to my customers enrolled in the  Rewards Club .  (The Rewards Club gives a 15% reward on all purchases and also has exclusive products and deals just for members.  Please check...

He Is Risen and other Bird Cards

Happy Easter - He Is Risen  I went to another Stampin' Up Card Class a few weeks ago and made four cards that were bird oriented.  It thought that today would be a great day to share them, since one was an Easter card.  They are so dimensional and detailed, that I wish I could come up with these ideas, myself.  Oh well, I really enjoy getting together with other ladies and crafting together.  I, for one am making an effort to send out these beautiful cards.  It seems that a lot of people aren't using them, but I really want to send them and hope that someone else enjoys them too!  Oh - and don't forget to check out my good friend, DeAnn's blog Here.   She shares just a ton of beautiful cards and other projects! My hairy robin - I just haven't gotten the knack for the water coloring technique and it sort of makes me nervous, although to the average person, they probably wouldn't recognize that it is running out of the lines. This one ...
